What Is a True Copy Certification?
A True Copy Certification is a notarized statement confirming that the copy of your educational document matches the original presented. This certified copy—rather than the original diploma or transcript—is then used for:
- Apostilles for Hague Convention countries
- Legalization for non-Hague countries
- International employment and licensing
- Immigration and residency applications
When Original Processing Is Required
Although not common, some foreign institutions require that the original document be authenticated. There are several approaches we can take based on your specific requirements. Examples of requirements from your academic institution or consuming entity:
- The school official must sign the document in front of a notary public.
- The apostille must come from the state where the school’s campus is located.
- The student needs to attest to the originality of the document.
- The original document needs to be authenticated, but there no requirements on whose signature needs to be notarized.
